VÚKV a. s. is involved in the joint research and development project NOVIBRAIL guided by Railway Research Institute and University of Pardubice since 2011. The name of the project consists from the words Noise, Vibration and Rail vehicle which are the ground of the whole name of the project: Noise emission and vibrations in railway system. Duration of the project is scheduled till 2013 and the grantor is Technology Agency of Czech Republic.

The main goal of the VÚKV share at the NOVIBRAIL project is the efficiency assessment of actual measures against noise and vibrations on the vehicles – i.e. noise absorbers on the vehicle wheels or tests of trains with non-metallic brake shoes – and on the infrastructure, so noise absorbers on the rail, using of anti-vibration mats or noise barriers. Further goal is the analysis of influence of acoustic top of rail roughness on the noise emission together with indirect rail roughness determination method including influence analysis of vibration and noise emissions on the specified line sections in Czech Republic. No less important is also noise features modeling and its following measurement verification.
