CERTIFIED TEM TMX LOCO UNVEILED IN MOSCOW

19. 12. 2011

The new diesel locomotive, TEM TMX 001, which is designed for the heavy shunting service on broad gauge railways, has been certified for the operation on Russian railways. The certified loco was jointly unveiled by Czech company CZ LOKO, a.s. and by TRANSMASHHOLDING in Moscow, Scherbinka, during the traditional international rail trade fair, “EXPO 1520”, held from 7 to 10 September 2011.

A TEM TMX prototype was for the first time presented to the public as early as in September 2009. Then it underwent type tests and trials. To fully comply with all Russian standards, all necessary modifications of the locomotive were performed during the testing. In addition to other innovative features, the new concept machine has a modern tower-type cabin for the engine driver providing for a much better view compared to all previous Russian locomotives and offering a comfortable working environment to the operators. The Caterpillar 3508 engine was used in the design of the vehicle, reducing the total costs of the operation thanks to lower consumption, maintenance and high reliability. In this project, CZ LOKO valorised the many years of experience with modernisation and production of hundreds of diesel and electric loco units for its customers in the Czech Republic, the Balkans, Italy, Lithuania, the Ukraine, Belarus and other countries.
