CZECH RAILWAYS CONTINUE TO REVITALIZE TRAINS
12. 12. 2011The Czech Railways called out the tendering procedure to revitalize traditional fast trains cars, 2nd class in the amount of 125 mil Kč. The aim of this revitalization is to improve quickly travelling conditions in common fast trains in all parts of Bohemia and Moravia. This contract links up with the previous revitalization of 110 cars of different types, a half of which are back in service.
Seats will be repaired and upholstered by softer and more comfortable textile materials. Floors and walls will be coated by new surfaces in the whole car. Windows and doors will be exchanged in order to improve thermal conditions in cars, especially in winter period. All toilets will be reconstructed, including exchange of a big part of their equipment. The other technical elements will be improved too. The order was declared in form of published proceedings.The time of revitalization of the whole hundred of cars is planned to be completed by winter 2012/2013. In the last years, the Czech Railways has concluded a number of contracts for a renewal of regional passenger trains in the volume of almost 15 bn Kč and now also focuses on the renewal of the rolling stock for long distances. Beside revitalized coaches of fast trains, there are now categories of coaches for Express, InterCity and EuroCity trains which were completely modernized and now are put into operation again. Modernization of dining cars started too. Moreover, the other three tendering procedures for the complex renewal of 119 coaches for long distance lines i.e. national fast trains and international EuroCity trains are presently underway.
