Tests in the Research and Test Institute - VZÚ PLZEŇ for the Australian firm

The Research and Test Institute Plzeň (the former ŠKODA VÝZKUM) provides its services to producers of rail vehicles and their contractors not only from the Czech Republic but from abroad too. There are mainly fatigue tests, measurements of stress of vehicles construction in operation, decrease of noise and vibrations, strength and resistance, fatigue and crash calculations, analyses of external aerodynamics and streaming inside vehicle and consideration of vehicles service life which are provided for the companies as ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION, ŠKODA Vagonka, Faiveley Transport Lekov, Bonatrans, CZ-LOKO etc which belong among its regular customers.

The most interesting and regular customer from abroad is the firm United Rail Group, one of the biggest producer of railway vehicles in Australia for which the VZÚ Plzeň makes namely tests of rail vehicles bogies. This year, the firm also uses services of the company VZÚ Plzeň. At present, bogie frame tests of a three axle locomotive of narrow gauge, destined for the operation in Kazakhstan, are under way in the dynamic testing room. So far, all works were solved to a full satisfaction of the Australian customer and there is an assumption to continue in the cooperation also in the future.
