New dieselelectric locomotives ER20 Cargo for metrans
25. 07. 2011NEW DIESELELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES SIEMENS ER20 CARGO FOR METRANS
In the last year in September, Siemens concluded a contract with Metrans for the supply of 3 dieselelectric locomotives ER20 Cargo. The delivery takes place this year and the first locomotive arrived to the customer already in March of this year.
Locomotives Siemens are designed for interstate traffic and they are therefore equipped by train interlocking systems Mirel and Indusi. Thanks to that they can be flexibly used both in the Czech Republic, and in Germany, Austria, Slovakia or Hungary and Slovenia. One locomotive driving the train through several countries increases the speed and reliability of transport and hence the attractiveness and effectiveness of combined transport. Unlike traditional exchange of locomotives at borders direct runs are significantly faster, operational and economical. And it is a step for the railways to relieve roads and motorways from heavy truck traffic, which pollutes the environment, reduces the quality of life in communities, harms communications, and restricts the flow of traffic.
Compared with older types locomotives Siemens achieve significant fuel savings. Consideration for the environment following the low level of emissions and zero oil drip show their other advantages. They are characterized by a high productivity, ow operating cost, low-wear lines and high degree of safety. In addition to an unusually high operational reliability these dieselelectric locomotives in its power class are softest locomotives in the world.
