Czech Siemens to become engineering center for rolling stock world-wide

Siemens is expanding its engineering capacities in the Rolling Stock segment in the Czech Republic. The Engineering of Siemens Mobility intends to increase the number of engineers at its locations in Prague and Ostrava, the Czech Republic to 200 by the year 2012 and will become the third biggest engineering center within Siemens global concern.
Czech engineers will be responsible for development of modern rail vehicles for mass transit, regional and long-distance services, operating worldwide. Beside classical production activities Siemens brings to the Czech Republic sophisticated activities with high added value and international overlap.
"We are participating on the development and design of the trains and underground vehicles that Siemens produces for the whole world. Current capacities in amount of 85 engineers will increase up to 140 engineers next year. Final figure expected is 200 employees achieved in the year 2012", says Ing. Jan Maj, Head of Division Mobility Siemens Czech Republic and supplies: "Even if it is an attractive job with international overlap, it is very difficult to obtain excellent engineers in the Czech Republic during such a short period. Therefore we cooperate with universities continuously on educating talented students in Prague, Ostrava and Pardubice."
