TLR-2: A new universal communication unit from UniControls

UniControls has a long-term experience in the field of development and operation of vehicle communication units. As reference units it is possible to mention installation of the TLR-ZJ telecommunication units for GSM transmissions and GPS localisation on 56 electrical units of the series 471, equipping of 22 electrical locomotives of ČD and ČD Cargo with a transmission device for electricity consumption measurement and the bespoke development and production of telecommunication units for Trenitalia.

This experience has been used during development of the TLR-2 communication unit. It makes it possible to connect a vehicle
in both Wi-Fi and GSM networks. The unit is equipped with a highly sensitive GPS module. For the connection of technologies it is fitted with a wide range of industrial interfaces, including Ethernet. It is possible to use also direct digital inputs and relay outputs. The unit is equipped with the processor core with the Linux operating system which makes the running of customer applications possible.

The installation of the communication unit on a vehicle is just the first step to the solution of a comprehensive data transmission. A part of the delivery is therefore formed also by inclusion into the entire context of the application, including integration or bespoke
development.

UniControls has already implemented a wide range of projects, from data transmissions in the area of information and advertising systems to video surveillance system records, data transmissions for electronic timetables, system for electricity consumption measurement and on-line diagnostics of vehicles.
