Regarding the new standards (iso 14001) and the new trend for environmental protection, Irisbus, the company IVECO for bus
is developing a new concept EILISUP with Electrical bus for city centre.

The bus will have some batteries that should be loaded every 40 min. at the end of the lap thanks to a rigid catenaries and a dual polarity pantograph. The bus will be able to download a high current 550 amps driving up to 7 km/h during 6 min. in order to charge the battery for a power of 350 KWatt.

The new concept of the dual polarity pantograph comes from the current of dual polarity (+ and -). Beyond the creativity and innovation demonstrated in this new development, this is very important to notice successful collaboration between all our international Engineering & Industrial Entities. Indeed, through successful collaboration between French and Czech parts of Panto Team in Tours and Blovice, the new concept with IRISBUS has been proposed based on part of the pneumatic LX pantograph 3200 mm adapted to the dual polarity.

This pantograph with pneumatic cushion will able to pick up the current at 6 m high thanks to a development of 3200 mm. This new Development will be patented by FT Lekov in order to secure our next Market Development in Europe.
This pantograph will be further qualified in FT Lekov laboratories and industrialized in FT Lekov for a delivery schedule for October 2010, first step of the project EILISUP. It will be mounted then first on a bus hybrid to test the concept in November 2010 and will be followed in 2011 by a second pantograph for the new 100% electrical bus.
