Locomotives 742.701-6 with cooling units of the new generation
15. 11. 2010LOCOMOTIVES 742.701-6 WITH COOLING UNITS OF THE NEW GENERATION.
742.701-6 locomotive is designed for medium- heavy railway service on national and regional lines, with a gauge of 1435 mm at speeds up to 100 km / h.
Drive unit consists of an internal combustion engine Caterpillar 3508C of 1000 kW, which meets the emission limits of EU Stage IIIA, cycle and F-type traction alternator Siemens 1FC2 631st. The modular structure of the locomotive allows to build new generation cooling unit, which was part of development projects by CZ LOKO and AV ENGINEERING. The locomotive meets all relevant legislative requirements and can therefore be operated within the specified EU countries.
„The evolution of cooling unit was obtained in an extremely short time of 6 months from feasibility studies to test the functional prototype. During the project we applied interdisciplinary knowledge enabling us to increase in technical quality of the product. " Comments Jaroslav Malý, Director of Development, AV ENGINEERING.
Cooling unit is a new generation of equipment to enable full coverage of the engine power spectrum, subject to the possibility of modular buildings in the locomotive. The overall concept of the unit is based on performance difference in HT and LT lines and the advantage of using the „sandwich" coolers concept, which is the subject of utility model protection. Optimized storage block, custom coolers, fans and enables full deployment mode for a defined driving conditions and operators. More efficient cooling is achieved by optimizing the design of the fan housing, which allows achieving the required performance with lower noise emissions.
