Constantly increasing customer’s demands as well as new requirements of European legislation given foremost by the Technical
specifications for interoperability (TSI) significantly contributed to the decision by Výzkumný Ústav Železniční, a.s. (VUZ) to gradually modernize the VUZ Test Centre Velim.
The first stage includes the modernization of power supply station focused on general power increase, quality and utilization features of all power supply systems within the program POTENTIAL – CHALLENGE II of the Business and Innovation Operation
Program of European Union (OPPI). The project implementation took place mostly in 2009 and today we can state that the options of the power supply systems cover all requirements for commonly used European railway power supply systems.
Another aspect of the ZC Velim modernization is the preparation of a project including three stages, which depending on the
financial sources:
• reconstruction of the catenary line in a large testing circuit
• the completion of the reconstruction of large test ring superstructure
• modernization of the control command and signalling equipment including the insertion of indicators for flat wheels and hot bearings detectors and equipping the test circuit with the ETCS system
Level 2 in order to obtain the status of the ERTMS test track.
