KAPSCH AND SOLAR ENERGY FOR RAILWAYS

In 2010, Kapsch s.r.o. (as the first company in the Czech Republic) managed to supply of energy for GSM -R repeater only with photovoltaic panels. Due to its optimum control this alternative way of power supply exploiting the solar radiation enables the year-round non-stop operation without any restrictions.

Kapsch s.r.o. acts as a general contractor of its own GSM -R technology in the Czech Republic implementing the complete turnkey development of this network infrastructure, its putting into operation and commissioning to customers including the operational assistance (SLA). As early as in 2005 we completed and launched the first digital GSM -R network in the Czech Republic of 201 route kilometres. Our experience from the GSM -R pilot operation have helped us to design many technological and operational improvements for the GSM -R system, such as the intelligent control and remote supervision system for the GSM -R infrastructure indicated as GSM -R Smart House or the measuring and evaluation system for planning and optimization of the GSM -R radio coverage – Coverage Measurement System. Currently, the GSM -R in the Czech Republic can be used on the first two international railway corridors from Germany to Slovakia and from Poland to Austria.

So far, Kapsch has been the only provider in the Czech Republic, which is able to project, install and launch a system combining both railway radio standards (UIC , GSM -R) and radio systems of security and rescue forces (Tetra, Tetrapol, etc).
