Completion of a bogie exchange in maintenance workshops DPOV

At the turn of April 2010, already a tenth bogie exchange in the electric unit City Elefant 471.010-4 was completed in DPOV in cooperation with the firm ŠKODA VAGONKA. This exchange was done for the first time since the unit has been put into a common operation.

The most important part of the whole work was to repair bogies of electric units in changing or repairing defected parts, including wheel sets, traction equipment, suspension and brakes. Control electric systems, operating, information, power systems of a vehicle, including a main switch were touched too. Compressor set, air-conditioning system, traction switching for propulsion of a vehicle and other important aggregates were also submitted to a renovation in order to provide an easygoing function affecting comfort, safety and reliability of operation.

A renewal of individual parts of the train-set interior, damaged by wear or vandalism was necessary as well. In comparison with the previous refurbishments, an external coating of a vehicle body was not performed in this case; i.e. the train-set was not repainted for economic reasons. It is only a pity that such a large and financially exacting refurbishment was not accomplished by a new varnish which would add a "brilliancy colour" to this work.
