CZECH RAILWAY INDUSTRY AT EURASIA RAIL, 3.3. – 5.3. 2016
The Czech Railway Industry returns to the 6th International rolling stock, infrastructure and logistics exhibition Eurasia Rail in Istanbul. Most of the 21 participating Czech companies exhibit in a national pavilion organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and ACRI – Association of Czech Railway Industry. The Ministry uses the opportunity provided by Eurasia Rail to support Czech manufacturers in their access to the Turkish market, where the offer of high-quality products and services by Czech companies, and the rapid development of the Turkish railway and public transport infrastructure pose an ideal combination for beneficial synergy. Several successful projects of mutual co-operation between the Czech and the Turkish party, such as the deliveries of SKODA trams in Konya, signalling system for metro in Istanbul by AZD PRAHA or wheelsets by GHH Bonatrans Group have already taken place. With the aim to extend the existing cooperation, following Czech companies are introduced at this year’s exhibition: ACRI - Association of Czech Railway Industry, Alfa Union, AMIT, AZD Praha, CSAD Uherske Hradiste, GHH - Bonatrans Group, DAKO CZ, HAKEL, Legios, LOKEL, Pars NOVA, Prvni Signalni, Skoda Electric, SALTEC, SENSIT, Skoda Transportation, Skoda Vagonka, TOS KURIM, VUKV, VZU Plzen and Wikov MGI.
Istanbul, 3 March 2016: The ACRI associated companies currently employ more than 20.000 people in the Czech Republic and generate an annual turnover of almost EUR 3 billion, of which exports account for more than 54%. ACRI is the unique Centre of Technical Standardization acting in the railway sector, involved in European technical standards transfer to the Czech national standards system. ACRI is representing the joint interests of the railway supply industry towards the Czech Institutions, rail operators, rail infrastructure managers and via its membership in UNIFE (European Railway Industry) also towards the EU institutions “The present successful development of the railway transport was enabled thanks to 200 years of tradition of the Czech railway industry. The former Ringhoffer wagon plant in Prague, wagon plant at Kopřivnice, the 1st Czech-Moravian machine works in Prague – later ČKD or Škoda plants in Pilsen together with a wide range of other producers had always been at the top of their professions”, says Marie Vopalenska, ACRI General Director. The quality of Czech railway products can be shown through a large export to all over the world. This long-standing tradition is successfully linked up with the present representatives of the Czech railway industry who do not rely only on tradition but also invest significantly into the development of new products, purchase of high technologies and renewal of production areas.
Czech Railway Industry is a strong partner for Turkey
AZD Praha co-operates in Turkey on the metro modernization in Istanbul with the delivery of signaling systems and helps with an upgrade of railway crossing safety devices on Sőke-Ortaklar track or with Tekirdag-Muratli project by supplying station safety devices such as ESA 44, system remote control DOZ-1 or line signaling device type ABE-1 including telecommunication system. AZD Praha also co-operates with other companies on the construction of railway track Irmak-Zonguldak supplying 500 elements for more than 260 railway crossings, and supplies control and information traffic system for Izmir. Recently, AZD Praha supplies the safety devices ESA 44 for 31 stations of Samsun – Kalin project.
GHH - BONATRANS GROUP is the Premium Supplier of railway wheelsets and their parts – wheels, axles, tyres, with long tradition of supplying its products to Turkey. Most of the new rolling stock supplied to Turkish railways (TCDD) and to Turkish cities in the last decade is equipped with GHH-BONATRANS state-of-the-art wheelsets and parts thereof. Such as wheelsets carrying new EMU and DMU units for TCDD built by Hyundai Rotem and TÜVASAŞ, including EMU units for the most prestigious Maramaray project, new metro units in Istanbul (manufactured by Hyundai Rotem) and Ankara (produced by CSR Zhuzhou). Its wheelsets are also used in new locomotives that haul TCDD trains – new electric locomotive E68000 built by Hyundai Rotem/Skoda Transportation, as well as in the modern diesel locomotive Powerhaul build by General Electric in cooperation with TÜLOMSAŞ. Istanbul Ulasim, city transport agency, is running trams with its resilient wheels in order to reduce substantially rolling noise of trams in densely populated areas. In general the expertise in light rail has been confirmed by recent orders for trams for Izmir, Kocaeli, Konya orSamsun. GHH-BONATRANS brings to Turkey top quality components, based on the best world railway practice but customized to specific Turkish needs.
Few brands have brought as much global fame to the Czech Republic as SKODA from Pilsen. For over 150 years, people have recognised the products from this traditional factory. Today its successor, SKODA TRANSPORTATION, is focused on the modern vehicles for public transportation in cities and rail transit systems. The key company´s products include low-floor trams or subway trainsets for an eco-friendly public transport in many European cities. Recently, SKODA TRANSPORTATION supplies trams for Konya in Turkey or for Miskolc in Hungary. In recent years Czech - Turkish economic relations experienced strong momentum. Due to the stable volume of trade exchange Turkey is today one of the most important trading partners for the Czech Republic. The bilateral trade has a long-term growing trend, and since the beginning of the millennium it has been marked by more than a twelve time increase. In 1-11/2015, the Czech Republic and Turkey conducted bilateral trade in the total value of more than EUR 2,62 billion. Czech exports to Turkey during the eleven month period reached EUR 1,56 billion while Turkish exports to the Czech Republic increased to EUR 1,14 billion. Based on the existing relations and long-term contracts (not only in the field of railway industry but also in the energy sector, automotive industry, mining sector, chemical industry, defense industry and environmental technologies) the bilateral trade is expected to stay stable in the future.
